- material covered:
    - Appendix A (Complex Analysis)
    - Chapter 1 (Introduction)
    - Chapter 2 (Preliminaries)
    - Chapter 3 (Continuous-Time Signals and Systems)
    - MATLAB
      - IMPORTANT NOTE: although MATLAB-related questions are fair game
        for all exams in course, not all exams will necessarily have
        such questions

- MATLAB:
    - only basic knowledge required; do not need to know everything in
      Appendix D (MATLAB)
    - basic syntax, conditionals, loops, user-defined functions

- when answering exam question:
  - must show all work
  - must present answer in way that marker can understand clearly
  - important to follow instructions for exam question; for example:
    - may be asked explain steps
    - may be required to use (or not use) specific method
    - may be required to present answer in particular way
  - unless explicitly indicated otherwise, point form should be adequate
    for most English as long as sufficiently clear
  - failure to comply with above can result in severe mark penalty
    (or even zero marks being given)
