The Competition
The Canadian Satellite Design Competition involves 12 teams from 12 universities across Canada. The challenge is to build a 3U nanosatellite (that’s a satellite measuring roughly 10x10x30cm and weighing less than 4kg) that will be able to execute a mission of our choosing. The winning satellite(s) will be chosen in late 2012 and sent up into space the following year.
Though small in size, the microsatellite has to have all the critical functionality of a larger satellite like the power, payload, attitude determination and control, communication, and operations. It is an extensive and very exciting challenge!
